Mumbai, August 18, 2015: SBI Foundation, a subsidiary of the State Bank of India, has been set up as an implementing agency for the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities of the State Bank Group. SBI Foundation will promote aid, help, encourage, develop, causes related to education, environment, health, women empowerment, children welfare and all other such activities under the ambit of CSR and Sustainability policy of the entire SBI Group.
SBI Foundation logo and the website www.sbifoundation.in; www.sbifoundation.co.in were unveiled by Hon’ble Finance Minister Shri Arun Jaitley.
On the occasion of inauguration of SBI Foundation Dr. Huzaifa Khorakiwala, Executive Director and Trustee of Wockhardt Foundation was felicitated by the Finance Minister for the Wockhardt Foundation’s exemplary work in the area of sanitation/construction of toilets in record time. A replica of a cheque of Rs. 97.37 lacs was handed over to Dr. Khorakiwala for implementing the sanitation project in Sawai Madhopur district in Rajasthan.
Similarly, Shri Ramji Ragahvan the founder Chairman of Agastya International Foundation was felicitated by the Hon’ble Finance Minister. Agastya International Foundation runs the mobile hands-on science programme for economically disadvantaged children and teachers from rural India. It’s a grass root initiative to support and transform primary and secondary education in India. A replica of a cheque of Rs. 279.50 lacs was handed over to Shri Ragahvan for setting up 33 Science Centres in Maharashtra and funding 7 iMobile Labs and 8 Lab-on-a Bike in Bihar, Orissa, Jharkhand and West Bengal/UP.
Dr. Khorakiwala and Shri Ragahvan appreciated Bank’s contribution for upliftment of the neglected and deprived sections of the society.
