Calling all foodies to the Thailand ‘Splash & Spice’ Festival

Foodies will be treated to “One price, one menu” deals at nearly 40 restaurants across six Thai tourist

hotspots for the next 80 days

Mumbai, March 18 2015: Prepare to feast on Thailand’s culinary delicacies from now right until 31

May, 2015 as the country embarks on the third edition of the “Thailand Splash and Spice Festival.”

Taking its name from Songkran (which is New Year in Thailand) which is celebrated as a water festival,

Thailand Splash and Spice is essentially a food festival that offers visitors special deals at high end

restaurants in Bangkok, Pattaya, Hua Hin, Chiang Mai, Phuket and Samui. Both standalone restaurants as

well as restaurants within 4-star hotels and 5-star hotels will be part of the festival. In these outlets,

patrons will be able to avail of the Privilege programme called “One Price Point Menu” that will offer lunch

priced at 749++ Baht per person and dinner priced at 1,499++ Baht per person.

The initiative comes under the umbrella of Thailand’s niche-market focus on culture and culinary tourism.

TAT Governor Thawatchai Arunyik said, “The expanded festival is part of our continuing effort to

underscore our new brand campaign “2015 Discover Thainess”. As Thai cuisine is well-known all over the

world, this festival will give visitors further incentive to come and enjoy it in Thailand itself, at very value-

for-money prices.”

TAT Mumbai director Soraya Homchuen added, “Food and meals are a big part of Indian itineraries. I

think that people will appreciate the special deals being offered so that they may experience Thai cuisine

in a bigger way. Many Indian travellers are foodies who enjoy Thai cuisine and want to sample more of it.

Many also need to experience Thai cuisine beyond street food and I think that the Indian traveller will

appreciate the Thailand Splash & Spice Festival.”

TAT will join forces with VISA in order to pull of this latest promotional endeavor. TAT and VISA originally

initiated the “Thailand Splash & Spice” campaign in 2012 in order to capitalize on the popularity of Thai

cuisine and thus drive business to the many world-class international restaurants that have opened in

Bangkok and popular tourist spots nationwide. From a business standpoint, the campaign also leads to a

commensurate growth in average visitor expenditure and length of stay.

VISA promotes it via direct-mail to Visa cardholders in Thailand and specific targeted countries

worldwide. Participating hotels and restaurants also publicize and promote the discount offers to their

clients and via their Internet and social media channels.
