K J Somaiya Institute of
Management Studies & Research is launching the SECOND batch of 10 weeks
weekend programme on Creating New Ventures in January 2014. This programme is
ideal for aspiring entrepreneurs from all walks of life. The program will
provide theoretical understanding and practical nuances of starting a venture.
The programme is ideal for
a member of a family managed business, who wants to diversify or grow the
business and will also help young entrepreneurs wanting to start up a new
venture and women entrepreneurs.
The
faculty for the programme is drawn primarily from the institute but, according to
Professor Radha Iyer, who is also the faculty in charge of the entrepreneurship
cell on campus, “Entrepreneurs, angel investors and venture capitalists
are also invited for experience sharing. Objective is to dovetail theoretical
nuances with practical know-how.” Students in the programme receive a
certificate after submitting a business plan, which would be a team-based
exercise.
Eligibility:
Graduate or Graduating in any discipline from a recognized University

They were unique mix of new
& established entrepreneurial teams; their talks included aspects of
challenges faced in being an entrepreneur, use of technology, growth &
sustainability. Other key features included, visit to an incubator & a talk
by Apoorva Sharma of Venture Nursery regarding business incubators.

About Somaiya Vidyavihar - The Somaiya Vidyavihar campus comprises 31 individual
institutes dedicated in the arts, sciences, management, humanities,
philosophies and social sciences as important areas of scholarship, and is
spread across a 60-acre (240,000 m2) complex in Vidyavihar, in north central
area of Mumbai and a 90-acre (360,000 m2) complex in Sion in the heart of
Mumbai. It has over 27000 students and 1700 teaching staff. The majority of its
