India's courts are facing a backlog of 5 crore cases which will take 324 years to clear at the current pace. If the justice system is not improved, then Forum for Fast Justice Chairman Bhagwanji Raiyani will go on a fast unto death in Delhi from January 30, 2026.

Forum for Fast Justice Chairman Bhagwanji Raiyani has announced that if judicial reforms are not carried out in India, he will go on a fast unto death in Delhi from January 30, 2026.
A public seminar on judicial reforms has been organized at the India International Centre in Delhi on January 19 under the initiative of the Forum for Fast Justice.88-year-old Bhagwanji Raiyani has so far filed 117 PILs in the Bombay High Court and the Supreme Court.
He has established 115 registered societies for fast justice in 23 states of the country. In addition, he has established the National Federation of Societies for Fast Justice. . He along with his trustees and members undertook a 35-day Nyay Yatra covering 18,000 kilometers across the country from 30 January 2016. The purpose of this Nyay Yatra was to spread the message of the need for judicial reforms, but since 50 percent of the elected MLAs and DHA members had criminal cases pending against them, he was determined to defeat this nationwide movement.
On the initiative of the Forum for Fast Justice, a public seminar on judicial reforms was organized on 5 January 2025 at Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Bhavan in Mumbai-Dadar. Its chief guest Dr. Uday Varunjikar (Advocate) said that there should be a case management system. . Today, there is a backlog of 83,000 cases in the Supreme Court and 61 lakh cases in the High Courts. The highest backlog of cases is in the District Courts and City Civil Courts.
National Real Estate Development Council Vice Chairman Dr. Niranjan Hiranandani said that vacations of courts and holidays of judges should be stopped. Apart from this, evening courts and holiday courts should be started.
Renowned advocate Amit Mehta (Solicis Laws) said that in the last 10 years, the Modi government has abolished 1,500 old and outdated laws. Moreover, the steps that the government is currently taking for judicial reforms will be a game changer. Now foreign law firms are coming to India. Many good results have been seen with the arrival of NCLT in place of Company Law here. E-filing has started in the courts.
Rajendra Thakkar, Trustee of Forum for Fast Justice and President of Society of Fast Justice, said that India has made progress in the last 75 years but the judiciary has deteriorated. The judiciary has been working against the principles of the judiciary. Today, justice is being sold. A people's revolution is necessary to bring about change in the judiciary.
Advocate Mathew Medumpara said that English language will have to be accepted as the medium of the court. Secondly, due to the three-tier system in Indian courts, there is delay in disposal of cases.
Advocate Jamshed Mistry said that there should be transparency in the court system. A judicial academy should be started.
Apart from this, CA Vimal Poonmiya, Businessman Jaswant Mehta, Advocate Anjani Kumar and Secretary of Forum for Fast Justice Dr. Rajendra Chaudhary gave relevant speeches.
