While the Men in Blue are caught up with IPL, ‘Haryana Hurricane’ and former captain of the Indian cricket team,Kapil Dev recently joined Sandeep Patil on the show, ‘Taste Match’! Engaging in a conversation about his relationship with his wife, he reveals secret to his successful marriage saying, “I won’t let Romi play cricket and she won’t let me cook! That is her passion. Also, we don’t talk about cricket. No wonder we’ve lived a beautiful life.”
Kapil, who made the dreams of millions come true also spoke about how difficult it was to woo Romi. Romi's family was averse to the idea of their marriage, because they did believe that one could make a living by being a cricketer. Kapil discussed how the image of cricket has evolved over the years. During his childhood, he would sneak in his cricket gear from home and go to practice, without telling his family, as cricket was not considered to be a serious profession.
Taking a walk down memory lane, Kapil Dev narrated an incident from his early cricket days that inspired his journey. During his visit to Mumbai for a coaching camp, Kapil ended up having a heated discussion about not being given enough food to eat, Kapil said that he was a fast bowler and needed more food. The Camp organizer snubbed him by saying ‘In India we have no fast bowlers’. Visibly hurt, Kapil decided that one day we would become a great fast bowler and prove that man wrong. And years later, he did!
Sandeep Patil and India's cricket legends will unravel secrets and spill the beans on never-heard-before stories on Taste Match, every Saturday and Sunday on Living Foodz and &TV at 8 PM.
