Mumbai, 17 December 2015: SBI Foundation, a subsidiary of the State Bank of India and implementing agency for the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities of the State Bank Group, along with SBICAPs, another subsidiary of SBI, donated a Specialized Mobile Cancer Detection Van to the Indian Cancer Society (ICS).
The Van was flagged-off by the SBI Chairman, Ms. Arundhati Bhattacharya in the presence of Managing Directors of the Bank Mr. B. Sriram and Mr. V.G. Kannan, DMD & CDO Mr. A. Mehra and MD of SBICAPs Ms. Varsha Purandhare. MD & CEO of SBI Foundation, Ms. Sanjukta Raiguru and other top executives of the two donor institutions and Indian Cancer Society were also present.
The donated all-in-one specialized van, fully air-conditioned and encompassing X-Ray and Mammography machines along with a Pathology unit, will enable quick and effective detection in remote areas of the country.
The SBI Foundation was incorporated in June 2015 to promote, aid, help, encourage, develop and protect causes related to education, environment, health, women empowerment, children welfare and all other such activities under the ambit of CSR and Sustainability policy of the Foundation.
ICS, established in 1951 and a premier NGO working in the field of cancer awareness, preventive measures, early detection, cure and survivorship, funding and support for underprivileged patients has benefitted more than 2.2 lakh underprivileged people through its Mobile Detection Camps.
SBI Foundation and ICS are looking forward to working effectively and contributing meaningfully to society through similar ventures.
