LocalOye and Pinkathon take on Shivaji Park Beach Clean-up Drive with ‘Swachh Beach Run’

  • Beach clean-up drive post the Ganapati Immersions
  • Calls upon the local residents to take up this initiative

Mumbai, 24th September, 2015: To keep the city's beach clean after the Ganpati Visarjan, LocalOye, the easiest way to hire local services, along with Pinkathon, has taken up the initiative to clean the Shivaji Park beach – ‘Swachh Beach Run’. While LocalOye along with its home cleaning partners will clean the entire beach, Pinkathon will organize a small run to promote beach cleanliness. The cleanup will take place on Monday morning from 06.00 am onwards. The idea is to maintain the cleanliness of the beach by disposing off tons of garbage and improperly immersed Ganesh idols. The clean-up drive will then be followed by a run organized by Pinkathon in the Shivaji Park neighborhood.

“While the whole of Mumbai has been celebrating its favorite festival with absolute vigor and excitement, it is the beaches of Mumbai which have the bear the brunt of our excitement. We believe that it is high time that we stop blaming the authorities for not cleaning up our city. I am sure that they are doing the beast that they can, but we as citizens too have a moral responsibility towards the cleanliness of our city.” said Bharati Balakrishnan, Chief Business Office of LocalOye.

“This is truly a great initiative taken up by LocalOye and we are glad that we could be a part of this. It gives Pinkathon an opportunity to spread awareness about the importance of cleanliness in our lives. We are very well aware about the problems the residents face because of the beach being so filthy and dirty. However, this year we want to ensure that we give them a clean beach to perform their daily routine activities like going for an early morning walk, jog or for that matter performing their excercise on the beach.”, said Sonia Kulkarni, Pinkathon Ambassador.

Both LocalOye and Pinkathon intend to make this as an annual event. Staring with Shivaji Park beach this year, both the organizations intend to spread this campaign across more beaches in Mumbai in the future.
