Thousands Enter Competition to Prove Expertise in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Mumbai, INDIA – April 09, 2015

Certiport, a Pearson VUE business, today announced the extension of the deadline to enter the 2015 Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) India Championship, the popular technology skills competition on Microsoft Office.Thousands of entries have been received to date from all over India and they are expected to surge exponentially before the new 26 April deadline.  The MOS India Championship is the only one endorsed by Microsoft, providing a platform for students to showcase their expert skills using Microsoft Office tools and gain the upper hand in today's competitive academic and professional marketplace.

“The MOS India Championship is off to a great start and we hope many more individuals will enter before the deadline,” said Pankaj Rai, director and chief executive officer of CyberLearning. “We have seen a great deal of interest in the competition, especially since there was a World Champion from India last year, and we look forward to naming our winners who will travel to the United States for the MOS World Championship.”

In 2014 the Microsoft PowerPoint 2010 World Champion was Arjit Kansal from New Delhi, India.  He was just 16 years old and beat 400,000 entrants and 123 finalists from 130 countries to win the title.  Sashank Batra, also from New Delhi, won second place in the Microsoft Excel 2007 category.

Students age 13 to 22 can qualify to participate in the MOS India Championship with a passing score on one of the following MOS certification exams between 15 September 2014 and 26 April 2015: MOS Word 2007, MOS Excel 2007, MOS PowerPoint 2007, MOS Word 2010, MOS Excel 2010, MOS PowerPoint 2010, MOS Word 2013, MOS Excel 2013, MOS PowerPoint 2013.

Upon completion of the qualifying round, 150 students will be invited to attend the 2015 MOS India Championship event in New Delhi from 22-23 May 2015. During the India Championship, all competitors will take a unique competition exam in their track.

The top three students in each track will be honored with prizes and certificates and six First Place Champions will each win an invitation and all-expenses-paid trip to compete in Certiport’s 2015 Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship from 9-12 August 2015 in Dallas, Texas, USA.
