After the release of film Grand Masti Miss Srilanka and actress Chandi Perera went to Europe for a holiday
Chandi Perera
gets candid about the festive season. In heart, she is the simple girl
who keeps herself overly busy so she won’t miss her friends and family
too much. Chandi who just returned from Europe recently, says, nothing
like celebrating the festivities with family and friends and how gratifying it was to paint the town red along with her gang.
Ask Chandi How was the trip?
She says that she had a great time working and travelling.. “Was in London for an ad shoot. Then my family decided to take me for a tour in Europe.
What has she really been upto, over the last few weeks when you have had time off working ?
"Well,
I have been catching up with my extended family and going out to
restaurants, the restaurants in London are amazing. I haven't been going
out every night so much but have seen a bit of what is out there. I
have been out shopping, a whole lot of catching up on the goss, a lot of
card games and just spending time together.
Where do you go to perk up yourself?
“I
love to travel and find that experiencing different cultures really
helps and inspires new sparks. I have extended and family living in here
in London. They decided to take me around Europe.. across major
cities.. A good few days in each.
Paris.. Its truly the most romantic city.. Almost every day I walked along La Seine or watched the waters from a bridge. Well, it was as compelling as watching Mona Lisa in Louvre…
Also,
we spent quite a some time in Rome.. I was always fascinated by the
Vatican and generally the exquisite architecture.. I threw a coin in
Spanish steps and made a wish like a little school girl..” She reads me
rather quickly and adds “ Well, when it comes true I'll tell you all
about it.. Hopefully soon…!.. It’s so colorful and the people there are
so friendly. Who knows where my next trip will take me.”
Reveal your most coveted fashion item...
I
would love to invest in a designer handbag, maybe another Chanel.
They’re so timeless and classic and go with every outfit no matter what
the occasion. Also, I have a fetish for nudish coats, however, I keep
reminding myself that Mumbai has really poor winters!
What is the best meal you can cook?
Boiled
eggs!! Just kidding.. I’m pretty good at making baked pasta dishes.. I
love having friends round for dinner, especially when I have time in my
hands. Comfort food is always on my menu.
How do you stay fit and healthy?
I
think it's my love for dance.. Also, I try and fit in a few runs each
week in the park as well as eating a really balanced diet – with a few
treats now and again.
What is your ideal way to spend a Sunday?
As I’m travelling a lot at the moment... Every Sunday
is really different and spent in a new place. I’m always meeting new
people so I never quite know what is round the corner. When I’m at home
Sunday’s are usually my chill out day and a chance to spend some time
with friends and family.
You started your career as a model and still get to walk the ramp. Do you like that?
It
feels really good that I can still walk the ramp as a show-stopper. I
also love doing magazine photo shoots. It’s different because I wasn’t a
show-stopper before. It is different, but it’s great.
The Indian film industry can be a lonely place for outsiders. How welcoming was the fraternity?
I
never felt that I wasn’t welcomed, but it can be a very lonely place
nevertheless. I had no friends and family when I first came to Mumbai.
Another reason is that, you are constantly working and don’t have the
time to find real friends. It’s just because the time isn’t there. I
have been working like nuts and trying to keep up with travelling.
Any resolutions in 2014?
“Work hard and party harder.. Honestly, I want to work with the best in the industry”.
We believe you Chandi.. but really, did she miss Bollywood that much in London that you paid a quick visit to Bollywood in wax?
Chandi never misses Bollywood. She went to the wax museum and got pics clicked with star status.
