Dec 10, New Delhi: Saint-Gobain India won top honors in HR excellence as they were awarded the ‘Leadership in HR Excellence Award’ by India’s premier industry forum, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). The award ceremony took place on Friday, Dec 05th in New Delhi.

The evaluation procedure for the awards was extremely detailed and intricate. CII developed a framework for effectiveness of Human Resources Function in Member Organization. Under the Framework, every organization was assessed based on six dimensions viz (1) Leadership Actions (2) People Strategy (3) People Knowledge & Competencies (4) People Well Being (5) People Practices and (6) The Results as Performance and Perception Indicators.
Onsite assessment was carried out by a panel comprising of 3 senior trained assessors for a period of 3 days which included interviewing CEO, Functional Heads, Employees, Contractors, Members from society etc. Each of the companies was assessed on a score of 1000 marks on stringent standards.  Organisations that crossed 500 marks were as recognized as ‘significant achievement towards HR Excellence’ and the ones who crossed 600 were conferred with ‘Leadership in the Excellence’

Saint-Gobain’s Flat Glass division at Chennai participated in 4 out of 5 annual assessments.  On all 4 occasions Saint-Gobain crossed 500 marks.  In 2014, Saint-Gobain broke the 600 mark barrier to achieve “Leadership in HR Excellence Award”.  More than 30 organizations in India, committed to this stringent assessment.

Saint-Gobain outshined this initiative by leveraging HR Excellence Framework as a tool for “Distributed Leadership Actions”, thereby simplifying HR for easy assimilation by all functional Leaders, with higher ownership. This award stands testament to Saint-Gobain’s focus towards empowering its employees and its constant endeavor to create a healthy work environment.
