Arena Animation reunites with Smita Patil Street Theatre to spread awareness on World Anti Drugs Day

Arena Animation and Smita Patil Street Theater are being featured in the Limca Book of Records, 2015, for their initiative.

Mumbai, June 24th, 2014: Arena Animation, a leading animation institution in India has joined hands with Smita Patil Street Theatre on the occasion of World Anti Drugs Day, recognizing the persistent issue of drug addiction and its consequences, especially amongst the student community. A renowned group from the Smita Patil Street Theatre, which has been consistently listed in the Limca Book of Records, for spreading awareness through street plays, is performing across twenty colleges of the city from June 23rd-June 30th. Their street play, Anth, based on drugs, alcohol, and gutkha awareness has completed 6250 shows.

Since 1989, the group has performed plays all over the country. In 2012, they have performed in Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore, Lucknow, Chandigarh, Amritsar and Guwahati with the support of Arena Animation. This year, they have chosen Mumbai for their campaign. The colleges that the group will perform in include leading Mumbai based institutes like KC, Jai Hind, Wilson, Rizvi, Bhavans, Chetna, Sathe, Mithibai, Ismail Yusuf, Tolani, N.L., KJ Somaiya, Jhunjhunwala, Vikas College, SK Rai, Tilak College, CK Thakur, Modern, Oriental, National College, Nanavati college, Aggrawal college, Tendarkar College. These shows will also be listed in The Limca Book of Records, 2015. Arena Animation has been in constant association with Smita Patil Street Theatre for various social awareness activities.  They are planning to perform shows across 300-400 colleges of the country to spread awareness on various social issues on World Youth Day in August, 2014.

Many eminent personalities spoke about the issue, sending a message to the youth. Nana Chudasama, Former Mayor, Ex-Sherriff of Mumbai & President Giant International, was quoted saying, 
                                                                     “AVOID DRUGS, IT KILLS. DRUG USERS ARE LOSERS. DON'T TRADE YOUR FUTURE FOR DRUGS.”
Arif Nasim Khan, Minister for Textile & Minority Welfare, Government of Maharashtra, advised,
                                                                      “MIL GAYE JO HUMARE KADAM SE KADAM, RAASTON MEIN UJALE BICHHA DENGE HUM..
                                                                       AB TO UTHO MERE HIND KE WASIYON, AUR MITA DO YAHAN SE NASHE KE KADAM..”
Javed Deowelker, President Mumbai Labor Cell, NCP opined, 
                                                                       “DONT HUFF DONT PUFF, KEEP AWAY FROM THAT STUFF.”
Amitabh Bachchan advocated Anti-drug day by saying, 
                                                                      “THERE IS GREATNESS IN DOING SOMETHING YOU HATE FOR THE SAKE OF SOMEONE YOU LOVE, HATE DRUGS, LOVE YOURSELF.”

On this occasion, Mr. Shrutidhar Paliwal, Vice President-Corporate Communications, Aptech and spokesperson for Arena Animation said, “Being an education provider, Arena recognizes its responsibility towards the student community to spread awareness about drug addiction and the havoc it can cause in a student’s life.
