Students from India are Invited to Become the Education Leaders of Tomorrow:
Nominations and Applications to the WISE 2013 Learners’ Voice Program Open Today
Mumbai, 23rd May 2013: WISE (the Word Innovation Summit for Education) begins its global search for the world’s top 30 young learners (aged 18 to 25) from diverse backgrounds and disciplines to join the Learners’ Voice program.  Now in its fourth year, the Learners’ Voice program is one of WISE’s most important global education initiatives and has, since 2009, successfully identified a community of 78 exceptional students and recent graduates from around the world who have contributed their voices to WISE.

Now through June 25, 2013, the call for nominations and applications will be open to outstanding students and recent graduates. This year, 30 Learners will be selected to participate.

WISE Learners’ Voice brings the all-important views of students to the task of rethinking education. A selected group of young Learners will play an active role in the Summit and will have the opportunity to participate in several WISE activities throughout the year.
In 2012, 30 students from 24 countries were selected from hundreds of applications and nominations. In addition to participating in the annual WISE Summit in Doha, the 2012 Learners are currently taking part in a year-long Executive Education Program that combines online sessions, practical workshops and project-based work. They have also attended a selection of high-profile conferences and events, including the Asian Youth Forum in New Delhi, India, and Empower 2013, ROTA’s Annual Youth Conference on Leadership, Service Learning and Global Citizenship in Doha, Qatar.

Students and recent graduates can either apply personally or be nominated by representatives of institutions, organizations, programs and networks.  Applicants and nominees must be between 18 and 25 years old (). Participants should be currently enrolled in (or recently graduated from) a course of study at a recognized college, university or training program and be willing to contribute their time to the program throughout the year.

###
About the World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE):
Inaugurated in 2009 by Qatar Foundation on the initiative of its chairperson, Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, WISE is the only international initiative for innovation in education that stimulates collaboration and new approaches among diverse sectors – recognizing cutting-edge practices and helping to share them on an international scale. WISE is driven by the belief that the positive contribution of education can be enhanced through innovation in three priority areas: Learning for All, Learning for Life and Learning Anytime, Anywhere. To drive international collaboration in education, WISE has developed a program of year-round activities (such as the WISE Prize for Education, the WISE Awards, WISE publications, the Learners' Voice, the online platform), including the annual international Summit that is a unique occasion for thought-leaders, decision-makers and practitioners to come together and share concrete solutions to the challenges facing education today.
