Pedal to the metal for Women – Red Bull Catch Up

~ The inaugural edition of the amateur Go Kart tournament for women to kick off across India at SMAAASH.

~ A chance for leisure women drivers to get a firsthand account of what happens in professional karting while nurturing their talent and having fun.

Mumbai February 2018:  Red Bull Catch Up, a one of its kind amateur Go Kart tournament for women, will kick off its qualifiers tomorrow in Mumbai & Gurgaon at SMAAASH, a popular sports and entertainment centre!

Unfortunately, like many sports, go karting can appear to be male dominated at the highest level. However, there are many inspiring female drivers out there and the only way to tackle the male stereotyping is for more women to get karting! Red Bull Catch Up aims to provide female amateur racers & racing enthusiasts with the chance to "touch" the pro side of karting and get a competitive but fun experience down at the track. It’s a karting tournament designed to find the fastest female amateur kart racer in India. At stake is the possibility of being crowned the first Red Bull Catch Up National Champion by India’s female racing sensation Mira Erda

Mira Erda is India’s first Female driver to compete in one of the highest classes of Formula Racing in the country after signing up for the Euro JK series in the JK Tyre-FMSCI National Racing Championship. On Red Bull Catch Up being a great initiative for women drivers, Mira Erda said, "Ever since I started racing as a 9-year-old I have been dreaming of becoming a Formula 1 racer and would like to see many Indian Women competing at the highest level in racing. Thanks to Red Bull, this initiative is the perfect platform for aspiring female racers in the country to test and showcase their racing skills in a safe and confined environment. I wish all the drivers the best and hope to see a lot of girls pushing pedal to the metal at this tournament.”

Red Bull Catch Up 2018 qualifiers will take place in February & first week of March in Mumbai & Gurgaon for 16+ Age Category leading to the National Finals on 8th March.

Qualifiers

Date :  6th February to 3rd March 2018

Location : SMAAASH, Lower Parel, Mumbai

 SMAAASH SkyKarting, Sector 29, Gurgaon

Based on fastest lap timings in the qualifying rounds taking place between 6th February and 3rd March 2018 in Mumbai & Gurgaon, top 10 timings from each city will qualify for the National finals of Red Bull Catch Up on International Women’s Day (8th March) at SMAAASH SkyKarting, Gurgaon.

National Finals

Date : 8th March 2018

Location : SMAAASH SkyKarting, Sector 29, Gurgaon

Registration

·        Participants can register at the venue in a system, which will capture their name, contact number, email id & a webcam photo.

·        Participant can register using their social media page as well

·        The registration will be directly linked to the kart timing system

Timing System

·        Participant’s name with the timing accurate to 1/100th of a sec will show up

·        Post every race, leader board is updated with ranking (top ranking for the day & the month)
