Mumbai, 15th November, 2017: On World Children’s Day observed on 14th of November, various activities are conducted worldwide for children. To commemorate this occasion, teams at Fortis Hospital, Mulund in collaboration with renowned artist, Preeti Thaker Arora organized a two-day fundraiser to aid corrective surgeries for children suffering from Congenital Heart Disease, at the hospital premises.
The artist who is known for her stunning cosmic and subliminal paintings displayed around 30 striking pieces of her art to over 200 visitors. The event was graced by Dr S. Out of the 400 cases of Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) reported at the hospital, 300 are of underprivileged children between the age group of 2-14years and with severe symptoms. Timely treatment is essential for their survival and to ensure a healthier life. However, cost of surgeries and treatment is high thus most of these families cannot afford it. This two-day fundraiser will help fund surgeries of these little patients.
Speaking on compassion that remains the foundational aspect of the initiative, Dr. Swati Garekar, Consultant Pediatric Cardiologist, said, “Congenital heart defects are the most common types of birth defects. It is one of the most critical conditions observed in a child. However, with timely action and treatment the condition can be revised and the child can live a fruitful and healthier life. This initiative is a noble deed and we are working towards building a healthier childhood for many of these children”.
Dr S. Narayani, Zonal Director, Fortis Hospital, Mulund, said, “With support from social evangelists like Mrs. Thaker Arora, we will be able to provide treatment to these children. We are humbled by the support witnessed during this fundraiser. Many families lack awareness and are not able to provide the resources to treat their child, this initiative will help build healthier childhoods. We will continue driving such initiatives with the very purpose that every child suffering from CHD can be treated and thus move on to lead a normal life”.
