Be it the lilting tunes of Bajirao Mastani or the foot-tapping tunes of Roy, 2015 was a year of great music across genres. In an effort to find out the ‘best amongst the best’ the stalwarts from the Music world gathered for the Grand Jury Meet of the 8th Royal Stag Mirchi Music Awards in Mumbai today.
The jury included music legends such as Javed Akhtar (Jury Chairperson), Prasoon Joshi, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Sameer Anjaan, Irshad Kamil, Ramesh Sippy, Subhash Ghai, Sudhir Mishra, Madhur Bhandarkar, Anu Malik, Shankar Mahadevan, Lalit Pandit, Louiz Banks, Suresh Wadkar, Shailendra Singh, Talat Aziz, Alka Yagnik, Sadhana Sargam, Saapna Mukerji, Ila Arun, Pritam, Hariharan, Milind Srivastava, Pankaj Udhas, Anuradha Paudwal, Sulaiman Merchant, Udit Narayan, Raju Singh, Bappi Lahiri, Roop Kumar Rathod, Shaan and Vijay Krishna Acharya. They screened the nominations to judge the winners across various categories.
The winners of the 8th Royal Stag Mirchi Music Awards will be announced in a grand award ceremony on 29th February, 2016, in Mumbai.
Announcing the 8th edition, Prashant Panday, CEO, Radio Mirchi said, “The stature that Mirchi Music Awards has got is due to the jury that works tirelessly to select the best music of the year. For Mirchi, this is a tribute to the talented music industry. As we say “Music ko Mirchi ka salaam”. The award show telecast on TV last year was watched by more than five crore people all over India!
