MTDC set to welcome tourists for Christmas & New Year Celebrations


Mumbai, December 11, 2015: The much awaited vacations of Christmas and New Year are around the corner. These vacations bring along a lot of happiness and excitement with them. They truly deserve a destination which goes perfect with the celebrations. There is nothing that can be compared to Maharashtra unlimited and its beauty.
With favourable weather condition and the perfect time for celebration, MTDC is all set to welcome tourists. Paraag Jaiin Nainuttia (IAS), Managing Director MTDC, said, “Festivals brings entire family together. This year we have bookings made 6 months prior and we got a very good response at many of our destinations too”.
Maharashtra with its diverse topography, climate and tourist attractions is a destination that is visited all year round, making state a 365-day destination. With adjoining long weekends on Christmas and New Year, a lot of rush is expected in many destinations. To manage the rush, MTDC is promoting its innovations like Bed & Breakfast and Mahabhramanti. This will give locals an opportunity and platform to earn during this season.
MTDC’s Bhandardara, Ganpatiphule, Matheran, Tadoba, Tarkarli, Velneshwar resorts are completely booked. Other popular destinations include Matheran, Mahabaleshwar, Alibaug and Bordi. As per the Tourism Highlights 2015 Edition report by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the total number of International Tourist Arrivals (ITA) worldwide was 1,133 million in 2014, India attracted 0.67% of the world's international tourist arrivals out of which Maharashtra is the leader in the country with respect to foreign tourist arrivals (20.8%) to India and one of the leading states for domestic tourist visits (7.2%).
