Film makers throng to Jagran Film Festival 2014
14th May 2014: Hardly had Jagran Film Festival opened its call for
entries, it ended up receiving hundreds of entries in the first phase itself.
The Festival to open on 10 July 2014 in New Delhi is on with
its pre selection process. The last date for receiving entries is 15 May 2014.
Of all the entries received, the Indian regional cinema has
participated in a good measure. Films made in languages Malayalam, Tamil,
Kannada, Telugu, Marathi, Bengali, even Khasi and Bhojpuri have been entered
for the Indian Competition, wherein 21awards are to be presented at a gala in
Mumbai during the final leg of the festival.The awards are for the Best
International Film, Best Indian Feature Film, Best Debut Director, Best Actor,
Best Actress, Best Music, Best Singer, Male and Female, Best Cinematography,
Best Editing, Best Sound, Best Short Film and so on. Another award added this
year onwards is the award for Best Film Critic and Best Writing on Cinema.
The Jagran Film Festival is unique in its way of
organization. The festival begins in New Delhi and then travels to 14 other
cities of India before reaching Mumbai, where the grand finale takes place with
almost a week of screenings of all the sections and the awards ceremony. It’s
the longest running film festival of the country, covering almost three months
and crisscrossing across seven states of India.
The festival in its span covers all formats of film making, involving
short and feature film makers and also professionals engaged in the business of
cinema through a variety of business discussions. During the festival in al the
16 cities wherever it is organized. Jagran Film Festival doesn’t charge any
submission of participation fee either from the film makers or the delegates.
Last year the closing ceremony of the festival had stars like
Manoj Kumar, Kamal Hassan, Akshay Kumar, Prem Chopra, Chandrashekhar, Ranvir Singh, Sonakshi Sinha, , Tushar
Kapoor, Kangana Ranaut, Divya Dutta, Hezel Keech, Huma Qureshi, Kunal Kapoor,
Sudhir Mishra, Nimrat Kaur and many others were seen rubbing shoulders with
international film makers.
