Mumbai dentist to feature innovative stream
in photography at Kalaghoda festival
Mumbai,
January 30: Passion with a difference has
motivated a 30-year old Mumbai-based dentist to a new form of innovative and
imaginative photography termed – Liquid Collissions. The dentist is all set to
display his collections at the annual Kalaghoda festival under the exhibit name
Liquid Canvas starting Feb 1.
Liquid
Collisions is a specialized field of High Speed Macro photography that has a
wide variety of theme based applications which can be put to action based on
the artists’ imagination and experience in lighting, background and liquid
behavior.
Simply
speaking, the photography captures the brilliant formations which take place
when two drops of liquids collide with each other.
Speaking about his obsession for this new stream of
photography, Mayur Davda, the 30-year young dentist, said, “My passion for
photography encouraged me to take up Liquid Photography in 2011. I couldnt
believe my eyes after seeing how beautifully a few artists abroad were
capturing liquid drops in the camera. I soon started reading about it and came
up with my own indigenous methods to click water drops and their collisions.”
This phenomenon which is otherwise so fast that it is
invisible to the naked eye is choreographed during photography by using
suitable backgrounds and appropriate light effects to bring out the best in
each “splash” which takes place. To get brilliant colorful collision images
various liquids like water, milk, acrylic colors etc are dropped down from a
specific height. This results in beautiful shapes and a riot of colors which
fit into a particular theme of preconceived imagination.
Davda
received recognition for his passion when his photographs were selected for the
final round of
"TOTO FUNDS THE ARTS" which provides funds to upcoming
young artists below the age of 30. One of his collection also got selected in
the final among a huge list of participants in a renowned Global photography
competition that got exhibited at the Taj Lit Fest at Agra in Dec 2013 while he
will also be featuring his photography at Delhi Haat to be held in February
2014.
