Foxconn Plans to Establish Cloud Computing R&D Center in Southern Taiwan

Foxconn, a leading manufacturer of computer components and systems, has announced its plans of constructing a cloud computing R&D center at the Kaohsiung Software Park which is located in Southern Taiwan. Foxconn plans to complete this R&D center by the end of 2013.
The R&D center will serve as a cloud computing R&D base, which will be closely associated with Foxconn Group. This R&D center will concentrate mainly on the technological development to cover terminal devices and software, big data computing, HTML5-based applications, security monitoring software, Internet of Things, energy-saving solutions and mobile e-commerce platforms.
This a very huge R&D project from Foxconn. The total floor area of R&D building will measure 62,810 square meters (676,100 square feet) and will be a 5-storied Internet data center building with total floor area of 9,920 square meters. The Internet data center building mainly consists of container data centers, modular data centers, a central monitoring center, an exhibition center, testing rooms and telecom facility rooms, and is designed to provide various data facility system integration services for clients.
