Wassup! Andheri – Back and Bigger! Mumbai’s very own cultural festival for the suburbs

Wassup! Andheri – Back and Bigger!

Mumbai’s very own cultural festival for the

suburbs

returns for its second edition

Mumbai, February 21, 2013: After a successful debut last year on the city’s event scene, Wassup! Andheri by F5 Advertainment, an exclusively designed festival for the suburbs is set to return, only this time in a bigger, better avatar. Having celebrated the suburb’s and the city’s pulse and created a brand of its own already, this year’s edition promises to pack in all the extravaganza of last year and much more.

First up, the length of the festival is longer this time, owing to public demand and Wassup! Andheri will now be held over four days – beginning from February 28, 2013 and going up to March 3, 2013. It moves to a larger, more characteristic location too, the Chitrakoot Grounds in the heart of Andheri West.

That said, it is the itinerary packed in by promoters F5 Advertainment that’s the newsmaker again this year. From performing arts and fashion to literature and music, the Wassup! 2013 calendar has reinvented itself already, while keeping its motto of ‘entertainment for all ages’ intact. This second edition, the list of events expands too, with workshops, street plays, readings and innovative acts.

Speaking on the replicating the success, Mr Ajay Modgil, Founder and CEO, F5Advertainment shared, “We were overwhelmed by the reactions of guests and participants during the first edition and had promised to return in a bigger, better avatar. Having learnt several knacks of the event, we’re prepared this time to make Wassup! Andheri an even better experience. We owe it to the suburb which has been a focal point for the entertainment industry not only locally but nationally.”

Wassup! Andheri gives you a chance to view some of the rare and fascinating art pieces and paintings by sculptors and artists from across the country. More than 15 large installations curated by Aura Art will be displayed on the grounds, and more than 50 paintings, sculptures and photographs will adorn the Gallery section. Works of renowned artists like Arzan Khambatta, Sangeeta Singh, Manasi Manjrekar, Avantika Mathur, Chandrakant Ganacharya, Prakash Bal Joshi, Amisha Mehta, Sunil Deore, Sanjay B Nikam, Manoj Das,  Rohan Sonavan name a few, will be exhibited. The festival promises not only entertaining but also an enriching cultural and educational experience for the city.

And to make an impact as powerful as the debut edition, the organisers have roped in a host of celebrities, experts and known names –most of them locals who’ve made it large in their respective fields – to participate and advise on the themes and content of the event. No doubt that the festival will have cross-disciplinary events and a 360-degree view of Mumbai and India, albeit with the suburban perspective of Andheri.

Leading Bollywood choreographers and partner Wassup! Andheri Bosco – Caesar shared, “Love it or loathe it, Andheri today is at the heart of Mumbai, and Wassup! Andheri is undoubtedly the biggest event on its social calendar.”
