Mumbai, February 8, 2013:Honoring the best from Hindi Cinema, The Times of India Film Awards today announced the opening of itsglobal voting and nominations for the first edition of its awards that will be held in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada from April 4 – April 6, 2013.Presenting a one-of-its kind global and democratic award function, Times of India Film Awards (TOIFA) willhonor and reward excellence in Hindi Cinema while taking the awards to internationalshores. 
Hindi Cinema fans from across the world can now vote for their favorite stars on the official website www.toifa.com. Spread across 14 public voting categories, TOIFA will felicitate the finest from the field of acting, directing, music, choreography and scripting. Additionally there will be12 Technical and Critics awards that will be chosen by the TOIFA jury.
The year 2012 was ruled by interesting film concepts, out of the box technology, powerful screenplay and outstanding performances. The year saw Ranbir Kapoorcement his position as a talented actor with Barfi while Sridevi returned as herself with English Vinglish. Offbeat movies like Paan Singh Tomar and Gangs of Wasseypurcreated ripples among the audiences along with actors like Ayushamaan Khurana and Arjun Kapoormakingimpactful debuts.
