Six girls to represent India at the UK Skills Show; Establishes UK’s commitment to Prime Minister Modi on the skills agenda

The Show will witness 75,000 young people at the nation’s largest skills and careers event
  • Girls come from the states of New Delhi, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand   

November 17, 2015; New Delhi: After India making its mark at the WorldSkills International Competition at Sao Paulo in August 2015, where India won 8 Medallion of Excellence in various skills, 6 bright girls will be representing India at the UK Skill Show 2015. The competition is being organized between 19th and 21st November, 2015 at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham, UK.

The candidates will be showcasing their skills in Beauty Therapy (Body & Hands and Face) and Jewelry Making amongst a gathering of 75000 people who will be attending country’s largest skills and career event.

This is the first of its kind opportunity created for India as part of a learning and skill building tour promoted by the British Council and supported by UKIERI (UK India Education and Research Initiative) in partnership with the National Skills Development Corporation (NSDC) under the aegis of Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.

The UK Skills Show is a great platform that inspires students to discover the latest training, education and career opportunities available worldwide. There is always a dedicated teacher support and adequate resources which is extended to the students at the show.

Commenting on this opportunity, Shri Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (I/C) and Parliamentary Affairs said, “India has been heavily focusing on skill development for the last one year now, especially under the aegis of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. It’s about time that we showcase our talent and skill to the world and validate the success of Skill India. We need to extend more such opportunities to the youth of the country, in order to inspire many others to come to the fore front, acquire a skill of their choice and add to their personal and country’s growth. Further, these opportunities provide individuals with a platform to engage with participants of other countries, helping them understand the values associated with their skills, globally. Moreover, the success of these participants could play a vital role in making skills aspirational for the youth of the country.”
