~ Motorcycle: 120,639 units sold in June'13, HMSI growth is 17% (YoY)

~ Scooter: 131,475 units sold in June'13, HMSI growth is 6% (YoY)


Mumbai, 12th July, 2013: Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd (HMSI) – India’s 2nd largest two-wheeler company in domestic sales continues its trend of outperforming the overall Indian two-wheeler industry once again.

Continuing the positive sales momentum, Honda reported total sales of 252,114 two-wheelers in June’13. Honda grew an impressive 11% overall (YoY). In contrast, the overall two-wheeler industry continued the negative sales trend for the straight 3rd month and recorded a sharp 5% drop in sales during June’13.

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt Ltd. (HMSI) encouraging numbers is the result of enduring customers trust in Honda technology and products.

Key highlights of Honda’s performance in June’13 include:

·      HMSI Growth: HMSI posts 11% growth in June (YoY) in contrast to 5% drop in overall 2Wheeler industry sales in June'13.
·      HMSI market share: 22%(Dom) , 20%(Dom+ Exp)
·      Overall Production capacity is expanded as Honda’s 3rd Plant at Narsapura (District Kolar, Karnataka) starts production in mid June'13. Initially Dream Yuga and Activa i being manufactured.
·      Model upgrade: 2013 edition of two models launched - CBR 250R (3 colours+ Repsol limited edition) and Dream Yuga (with HET)
