Mumbai, 15th February, 2013: This Valentine’s Day, Mumbai was one of the many cities across 193 countries bringing together one billion people to dance and rise to end violence against women.
blueFROG, Mumbai’s premiere music venue witnessed several well known artists and performers such as Ash Chandler, Zoya Akhtar, Manasi Scott, Poorna Jagannathan, Suchitra Pillai, Sandhya Mridul, DJ T2K, DJ Kini, amongst others, who came together to bring about a change in the manner women are perceived.
One Billion Rising is a global call to all to rise, demand and end the violence against women and girls. It will move the earth, activating women and men across every country.
Speaking at the event, Manasi Scott, “One billion rising is growing at lightning speed with activists in 197 countries around the world coming together through dancing to reject the cycle of violence, and shake the globe in solidarity and strength, demanding an end to the injustices suffered by more than one billion women”
