Mumbai to witness ‘Cameragiri’ this Earth Day



Mumbai, April 21, 2015:With Mumbai staring at several key issues related to Environment, Fotothon- Mumbai’s only 24-Hour live photography contest urges Nature-Lovers to show ‘Cameragiri’ onApril 25 and 26 following World Earth Day to raise awareness.

Speaking about the competition and ‘Cameragiri’ Paresh Pimpale, Co-Founder of Fotothon said, "Through Fotothon, we aim to encourage Mumbaikars to use their cameras for conservation. As part of the competition a photographer has to ideate a Photo-Story through five pictures clicked during the assigned 24-hours on an environmental theme and has to submit it within 24-hours.”

Pimpale further added that this year seeing that several issues be that of loss of green spaces, increasing air and noise pollution, mangrove destruction and several others are burning issues of Mumbai, we are asking people to show ‘Cameragiri’ “We define Cameragiri as a movement of Nature lovers to raise not only issues that are worrying Environment but also to create awareness using their Camera and Conscience,” stated Pimpale inviting photographers to be part of Fotothon on April 25-26 2015 at Maharashtra Nature Park, Dharavi.

The winners of Fotothon will be felicitated by Honorable Chief Minister of Maharashtra during the World Environment Day State Function, which would be held on 5th June,2015 at the YB Chavan Auditorium.  
Sanjay Bhuskute, Spokesperson for MPCB expressed, “Photography is the most effective mediums to showcase the beauty of nature and can be used effectively for conservation and that is the aim ofFotothon.

Avinash Kubal, Deputy Director, Maharashtra Nature Park Society (MNPS) shared, “A single picture can move people to think and even take steps to help sustain the planet. Fotothon is a unique competition to celebrate the beautiful nature around us and also make a commitment to care for the environment and safeguard it for the future generation.”

 WHAT IS FOTOTHON;
Fotothon the ‘one of its kind’ nature photography competition conceptualized and organised by environmental NGO Ecofolks in collaboration with Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) and Maharashtra Nature Park Society (MNPS)
Participants get 24 hours to click pictures that are related to environment and wildlife and submit.
