Mumbai, Oct 31, 2014: CinePlay, founded by Entrepreneur Subodh Maskara and creatively mentored by actress Nandita Das is steadfastly making headway both in India and abroad.
This new genre of Cinema that is inspired by stories from theatre has been garnering great appreciation and recently concluded a houseful screening at the prestigious Museum of Moving Image (MOMI) in New York. The packed theatre screened the CinePlay of ‘Between The Lines’, with Nandita Das in attendance for the special Q&A session moderated by noted author Suketu Mehta.
Acclaimed actress Nandita Das said, "I am overwhelmed by the response at MoMI. For the first time I got to see it on such a big screen, with such good acoustics. The post screening discussion with Suketu (Mehta) and the audience was candid, stimulating and insightful. Right from its inception, Between the Lines has been an incredible journey, and I am glad to get so many opportunities to share it. The next CinePlay is at Yale, in New Haven and then in Chicago. For the latter, Subodh will also join me."
Having wowed audiences at MOMI, CinePlay is all set to host a special screening of Between the Lines at Yale University, with actor Nandita Das in attendance. Nandita Das who has been selected, for the Yale World Fellow Programme will present the CinePlay at the prestigious University with a screening at the Yale’s Whitney Humanities Center Auditorium on Saturday, November 1st 2014.
“I am extremely happy about the fact that CinePlay is making a mark both in India and now travelling internationally. Our screening at MOMI was houseful, much like the screening at Washington DC. I always believed CinePlay would find admiration among audiences, now it is being validated and that is heartening,” said Subodh Maskara, Founder and CEO, CinePlay.
Soon after the screening at the prestigious Yale University, the CinePlay ofBetween the Lines starring real life couple Maskara and Das will screen to audiences in Chicago on the 23rd and 24th November.
“We are at the cusp of very exciting times at CinePlay and will be announcing some very strategic collaborations very soon. We are committed to documenting and making accessible the wonderful stories from theatre accessible to larger audiences as we move forward” adds Maskara.
Having begun less than 8 months ago, CinePlay was recently named one of the coolest ideas of 2014.
