Speaking on the occasion Dr. J.C Mohan, Director of Cardiology, Fortis Hospital, Shalimar Bagh said, “Heart diseases and stroke are the world’s leading cause of death, claiming 17.3 million lives annually, with the numbers rising year on year. According to the WHO, while the rest of the world enters the heart attack zone at around 55 years, Indians become susceptible as early as 35 years of age. While we are making tremendous progress with regards to drugs and clot busters that prevent heart attacks, it is equally important to lead a balanced and stress free life, add physical activity in your daily routine and control dietary patterns to prevent heart attacks. People who are not physically active have a 20-30 per cent increased risk of mortality compared to those who engage in at least 30 minutes of moderately intensity physical activity most days of the week.”
