Andaman Islands, India, April 22, 2014: - The pioneering “Infiniti Live-aboard” –
India’s first scuba diving live-aboard has successfully completed one year of
operations in the Andaman Islands. Last year, the Infiniti sailed from Thailand (where
it was constructed) and arrived at Port Blair in March 2013. By third week of April it
had started doing its diving operations. Accordingly, it has now completed one year of
operating incredible dive trips in the Andaman Islands.
In this first year, the Infiniti team did comprehensive travel around the Andaman
Islands – including a complete circumnavigation of the Great Andaman Island,
journeys to remote islands such as Barren Island & Narcondam Island, journey to
Little Andaman & South Sentinel – and everything in between. A diverse set of
travellers came to the Infiniti in its first year, including divers & surfers from all over
the world, families, groups of friends, learners, advanced divers, photographers,
students, scientists, solo travellers, honeymooners.
Some special highlights included diving in the surrounding waters of an active
volcano at Barren Island, journeying to the magnificent, remote island of Narcondam,
discovering new dive sites including a bay of Manta Rays & an underwater heavenly
garden of lush, fast growing corals, and other stunning sights such as whales,
dolphins, dugongs, rays, sharks, octopus and much, much more.
Sunil Bakshi, founder & CEO of the Infiniti Live-aboard said, “It has been an incredible
year of adventure in the Andaman Islands for us. We are proud to be India’s first liveaboard,
and to have taken diving in India to a new level. The Andaman Islands have
turned out to be an amazing destination to visit and explore. It is perfect for liveaboard
journeys with far flung islands and plenty of undiscovered secrets. We look
forward to ending this season soon & planning the next one”.
The Infiniti will continue to sail until mid-May, thereafter closing for the monsoon offseason
until September. It will restart its journeys in September and remain in the
Andaman Islands until next season. Infiniti has postponed its plans to go to the
Lakshdweep islands until 2015.
The INFINITI is India’s pioneering scuba diving “live-aboard” – a passenger vessel
fully equipped for comfortable onboard stay and sail. It takes passengers to the
doorstep of the best dive spots in the Andaman Islands waters. It is a PADI authorized
dive boat that also teaches diving for PADI certifications.
