Chrysalis 2014, SNDT’s
fashion extravaganza held in style
Chrysalis, SNDT’s AMD’s (Apparel Manufacture & Design
Department) annual fashion show is no more a mere showcase of their students’
design collections but is a much watched out event in the fraternity’s fashion
calendar. For more than three decades, the show has consistently kept up to its
promise of being a launch pad for debutante designers and an offering of the
best talent to the fashion industry.
Says Aneel Murarka, Managing Director, Mirachem Industries, “I
am associated with SNDT’s fashion extravaganza since last four years and
witnessing the high quality and innovation in designing since then.” Murarka
was one of the judges and a sponsor of the event.
With costumes inspired from Onions, Durga Pooja, Diamonds &
Rust, Art Deco, Pixie Dust, The Ajanta Caves, Poverty and Patch Work, Yashagana
Art form among others, Chrysalis is the fruit of SNDT University’s AMD’s labour
and mirror of their endeavour in the field of fashion. This year the Chrysalis
Fashion Show set at The Leela, Andheri saw an amazing array of fashion walk the
ramp. Chrysalis 2014 was directed by India’s leading fashion choreographer
Elric Dsouza with super models Alecia Raut, Sucheta Sharma, Aryan Vaid, TV
actor Parul Chaudary amongst others. Amongst the celebrity guests who came to
cheer the participants on ramp include Leslie Lewis, Divya Khosla Kumar, Aneel
Murarka, Meher Castelino and Ana Singh.
“Through Chrysalis, SNDT has built strong ties with pioneers,
influencers, opinion makers and artists of the fashion industry,” observes
Aneel Murarka. “It is their close ties with the fashion fraternity that
gives them an advantage over other institutes when it comes to inviting guest
speakers, visiting faculty or seeking placements and job opportunities for
their students,” adds Aneel.
